Assessing workforce supply tool

Generates workforce supply profiles and reports from Electronic Staff Record (ESR) and other staffing databases using Microsoft Excel. Scenario generator

Intended primarily for commissioners, service planners and clinical teams, this tool allows simulation of whole health and social care systems. It comes pre-configured with population and prevalence data, and with a number of generic pathways of care. Users can modify all the defaults, change existing pathways or create new ones and develop any number of what-if scenarios. The behaviour of each scenario can then be explored by simulating healthcare activity for one to 10 years or more. Detailed results for each part of the model are provided of activity, flow, capacity, queues and cost.

Strategic health asset planning and evaluation (SHAPE)

An interactive, evidence-based application which supports strategic planning of services and physical assets. It is aimed at SHAs, PCTs and Trusts. It includes a GIS (Geographical Information System) capability which brings together information from various sources so you can easily see how they interact with one another – for example displaying location of NHS sites and facilities; admission rates; and travel times. It allows you to add demographic layers to the map including population, health status, employment status, deprivation and ethnicity.
