Local Programme Leads

For the purposes of the National Diversion Programme, each Youth Justice Liaison and Diversion (YJLD) scheme needs a named programme lead who:

  • Has overall ownership of the local development plan
  • Is the recipient of all communication from the Department of Health (DH)
  • Is accountable for data reporting to the Department.
The programme lead will also keep DH up to date with changes in staff and contact details, and of the named staff members to be included in relevant communications.

The programme lead will need to be able to promote change, through having links to relevant strategic boards and forums, as well as having a good understanding of the operational issues facing YJLD workers.

Although most of the day-to-day management of the scheme will be delegated to YJLD workers, the programme lead needs to be willing and able to support them with any emerging issues that might benefit from troubleshooting or discussion at strategic boards and in forums.

The diagram below shows the fit between the different levels of activity.
